What do the different site statuses mean?

Understanding site statuses helps you know what’s happening with your hosting at any given moment. Each status reflects a different stage in your site’s lifecycle — from initial setup to full operation.

Pending

A Pending status means your site is currently being provisioned. During this time, MightyPress is setting up your WordPress installation, configuring your server environment, and preparing your hosting infrastructure.

  • A progress bar shows the current provisioning stage
  • Most dashboard tabs are hidden — only limited information is available
  • Provisioning typically completes within a few minutes
  • No action is needed on your part — just wait for setup to finish

Active

An Active status means your site is fully operational and running normally. This is the standard state for a healthy, live site.

  • All dashboard tabs and features are available
  • Your site is publicly accessible at its URL
  • You can manage domains, caching, backups, team members, and more
  • The WordPress admin is accessible via the one-click login button

Staging

A Staging status indicates the site is a clone of a production site, created for testing purposes. Staging sites function just like active sites but are clearly labeled to prevent confusion.

  • Staging sites appear in your site list with a distinct Staging badge
  • They have their own URL (typically clone-name.pressable.site)
  • All standard features are available for testing
  • Changes made on staging do not affect the production site

Suspended

A Suspended status means your site has been temporarily deactivated, usually due to a subscription or billing issue.

  • A warning banner appears at the top of the dashboard explaining the suspension
  • Most management tabs are hidden — you cannot modify site settings
  • Your site is not accessible to visitors
  • To resolve, update your payment method or renew your subscription
  • Once the billing issue is resolved, your site will be reactivated automatically

Setup Failed

A Setup Failed status means an error occurred during the initial provisioning of your site. This is uncommon but can happen due to temporary infrastructure issues.

  • The site could not be fully created
  • Dashboard features are not available
  • Contact MightyPress support for assistance — the team can investigate and retry the setup
